Now that it’s the middle of summer, I need to switch up what I’m grilling. I’ve already had my fair share of beef burgers, turkey burgers, brats, metts, and hot dogs by this point. I poked around at the store and found some ground lamb, so I figured I’d give it a try. And. YUM.
I looked around the internet and I discovered it’s pretty hard to find a lamb recipe that’s not some version of a gyro. While I love a gyro, and trust me, I DO, I wanted a burger here. So, I decided to improvise a bit.
1 lb ground lamb
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp oregano
Toppings: feta cheese, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, mayonnaise
Combine lamb, minced garlic, and oregano. Form into patties.
Grill ‘em up!! As you can see, lamb meat is very red, but don’t be afraid of that. It will grill up nicely and be brown just like a “regular” burger.
Top as you please: I went with mayo, feta and avocado on the bottom and then my favorite Bella Sun Luci sun dried tomatoes on top. Maybe some Swiss cheese, red onions, and mayo would be good too…
