BBQ Rubbed Salmon

This has now become one of my go-to meals: it is SO easy and absolutely scrumptious if you can get your hands on a beautiful piece of salmon. I got this whopper from Costco – he’s about 2 pounds! Haha my husband threw in his phone in this picture for perspective. This fed me and my husband for two nights. I know people can balk at the cost of fresh fish, but if you do it right, it’s worth every penny. And trust me, this recipe is fool poof!

I found this recipe on the Cozi app (but I’ve made a few small tweaks now that I’ve made this meal a few times). Cozi is a free family organizer app. We use it mostly for grocery and to-do lists, but I imagine if you have kids the calendar aspect would be super handy. Obviously, it also has recipes! Check it out!


1 – 2 pounds salmon

Lemon juice, to taste

Salt, to taste

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp chili powder

1Tbsp brown sugar



Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place salmon in a foil-lined baking sheet. Fold sides up so juices don’t run over.

Squeeze lemon juice over salmon and sprinkle with salt. Really just do as much as you feel necessary. There’s no right or wrong here…although I personally try to go easy on the salt.

Combine the cumin, onion powder, chili powder and brown sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the salmon.

Bake 12 to 14 minutes.
